Is it too early to call him a pet name?

I just started dating this guy three days ago, and I was wondering if it was too early to call him some sort of pet name. I thought it would be


sweet.


Nothing too over bearing like "Love".....Do you think "baby or babe would be a bit much? He wouldn't mind something sweet, but I don't want anything too sweet. That would freak him out.


"Sweetie, maybe?" It's commonly use, even amongst those who aren't together. Any suggestions?

I call guys I`m not even dating pet names, they think it`s cute so I say call him whatever you want :)
Reply:I think sweetie is fine. I've heard people call each other that right after the first date. There's nothing wrong about it. Like 'hey sweetie'. Doesn't sound wrong. If you've gone out for quite a while, then try to make his name sound sweet and maybe shorten it or think of a nickname. Like if his name is Robert, call him Robbie/Robby.
