What's a good pet name for a older guy you love?
I don't think age has anything to do with love pet names. I think they come from your feelings or from experiences you share as a couple. think of him and how you feel and it wil come to you.

Have you ever liked a name for your future child that you ended up naming a family pet? I have done this twice. Once for my cat then again when I adopted my second dog. They are family so it's great. I talk to them like my babies anyway.

i have tons of favorite names that i never used for babies. i have 4 kids.
i have 4 dogs, among other pets. i tend to use my favorite names that my hubby didn't agree on for our children to use for pet names.
some of my favs that i am saving are:
Henry
Lucas
and William
my youngest son was almost a Lucas, but my hubby really hated it. i put up a good fight till we finally compromised.
i can even see the breed of dog that would match these names LOL
Lucas would be for a Bichon Frise
Henry would be for a Pug
and William for an English Bulldog.

Sliders, westerns, cooters , midland, painted, map, yellow bellied all are basically the same and require the same basic care
Aquatic Turtles are a life long commitment.
Remember 10 gallons for every inch of turtle.
One BABY turtle ( over 3” ) should have a 55 gallon tank to start.
And my pictures don't lie. All ages and all sizes get along as long as their is allot for swim room and plenty to eat!

They NEED calcium and protein they get it from the fish meat and the fish bones. Drop 20 or 30 or so feeder guppies or small goldfish or minnows they maybe a bit fast for babies at first just drop in the tank and watch them disappear in a few days! The more they eat the healthier the turtle. When I got these two 36 yrs ago all we had in back then were goldfish to feed so after 36 yrs and still going strong.
**If these are hatchlings a 1” and a tad over they may need to have their live food half dead by leaving the fish out of water for a few minutes (10minutes) and put in the tank. That way the baby can get the meat he needs and the fish can’t out run the baby turtle.
This way when they swim for their dinner they get exercise also!
Plus I also feed dried cubed blood worms or tubiflex worms or pweelwts 5 times a week for my five..
They can have garden worms which I collect after a good rain and dump them un the pond, also meal worms, snails, crickets, flies, crayfish small frogs, slugs, tadpoles ,dragon flies and anything that moves, but only as a treat.
They need leafy greens Romaine, Butter lettuce. (Iceberg and cabbage are bad for them, any other leafy greens will do) for vitamin A that they need at least 4 to 5 times a week.
They love grapes and strawberries and squash , apples. For small turtles cut in small bite size pieces.
TOSS in a bird cuttle bone in the water for calcium that will promote better shell growth, it will dissolve real slow and if they eat it that’s fine!!
Did you know that they need to bask under a reptile light UVA/UVB for up to 8 hrs a day for the vitamin D that they need to grow. So they need a turtle basking dock.
Gravel larger than they can swallow, alot larger.
Leave the heater on 78 to 80 degrees always. Their water needs to be clean otherwise they get sick easily from dirty water cause they poop allot. You need a GREAT filter system!
These turtles in captivity do not hibernate their eating may slow down some but they will not hibernate. They cannot hear or see well so they feel you coming by the vibrations each foot step take.
They will bite very very hard. Under 4" they carry a disease called 'salmonella'. So you must wash after every handling ANY size turtle..
They can become cannibalistic if you have 2 or more turtles and a small environment. They will kill off the smallest and then fight for the tank for themselves.
But if you have plenty of room and fish they will get along fine. My pictures prove that.
Size for basic aquatic turtle is approx Body length: 5-8" is average for males, up to 12 inches max for females, but average is about 9 to 10“ in captivity. Life span: 15-25+ years plus.
Males have the longer front nails and are used in mating. And are considered mature at about 5 yrs old. You can’t start sexing till about 3” across. Do not cut the males nails!!
They sleep at the bottom of rivers, streams. lakes or ponds or your tank to avoid predators like coyotes, foxes, owls, hawks, possums, raccoons and even some wide mouth bass and us humans.
***Some sicknesses they get easily.
Like shell its actual holes rotting through the shell.
Respiratory sickness, lopsided swimming, coughing, vomiting, blowing bubbles from their nose. .
**Swollen cloudy eyes which means lacking in Vitamin A. Which we all need for good eyes. Google ‘vegetables with Vitamin A.
Fungus white cotton patches on their skin, treat by adding a 1/4 of a cup of aquarium salt per 5 gallons to irritate and hopefully kill fungus. The addition of sulfa drugs such as those sold at pet stores under the name "Dr. Turtle" also should help kill fungus. Here is one source that sells Dr. Turtle. They also now sell a Sulfa dip by Zoo Med to treat bacteria and/or fungus.

Her previous owners were told by the pet shop she was a he, then when we got him his fur started comming out so a trip to the vets found he was a she and she was pulling fur to build a nest!
But we still kept the name.

i just want to know how they express their glands to avoid that awful smell out of little dogs... I want to know how they do it and why dogs get to that smelly point.

It's very much like 'popping' a zit....but you should really have someone teach you in person until you get the hang of it, lest you accidentally rupture them to the inside and cause an abscess.

My dog had to have it done after a long road trip when she, like her owner, felt uncomfortable pooping away from home and became constipated. You shouldn't have it done too often. The stinky stuff is a lubricant that helps them pass waste. It's only when the dog can't go that it sometimes becomes swollen and interferes with normal functioning.

One day a cat came to our back door and pawed at it day after day. We fianally adopted it and fed it. We didn't really think of her as ours yet, so we called her Cat. When no one responded to our lost posters, we kept her. We wanted a different name than cat, but she already answered to it. What sounds like cat... KITKAT!

How do you name your pet?
Blazer is a big Doberman so I named him Blazer 4x4, but call him Blazer 90% of the time. When I do call him Blazer 4x4 his tail goes a hundred miles an hour so he must love it. Velvet is named Midnight Velvet since she is black %26amp; her coat is as shinny %26amp; soft as Velvet. Desire was given her name because it was my heart's desire to have a female Doberman. Snoop Doggy Dog was named after the black rapper that transformed into a Doberman in his rapper video. Ginger, a rescued mutt was named Ginger because of the color of her coat!!!!

Then, one day, when she was 3 weeks old, I held her up and I said "Let me see those spots, Tri Tip," and thus her name. Everyone thinks it's weird, but it fits her just the same.
My cornsnake was random too. My friend was looking up plains indian tribes on the internet; the color variation of my snake comes form the great plains. And I saw a random tribe, the Kiowa tibe. But I pronounced it Kee-OH-Ah instead of KAI-Oh-Wah. And Kiowa (pronounced my way) stuck. I think sometimes it just happens that way.

My dog's name is Puppy Wuppy. When I got him from the shelter he'd been picked up as a stray so they gave him some generic name that didn't suit him, like Cosmo or something. We thought he was a puppy so we just started calling him that until we got to know him and decide a name. We took him to the vet the next week and found out that he wasn't a puppy, he was 1.5 yrs old, not 7-8 mo like we thought. By then Puppy Wuppy had stuck. I often wonder what his name was the first year and a half of his life, because I can't imagine him as anything else.
Also I have a cat named Pookie Lips. He has an overbite that makes him look like his lips are pouty or "pookie" as a friend described it.

My dog's name is Puppy Wuppy. When I got him from the shelter he'd been picked up as a stray so they gave him some generic name that didn't suit him, like Cosmo or something. We thought he was a puppy so we just started calling him that until we got to know him and decide a name. We took him to the vet the next week and found out that he wasn't a puppy, he was 1.5 yrs old, not 7-8 mo like we thought. By then Puppy Wuppy had stuck. I often wonder what his name was the first year and a half of his life, because I can't imagine him as anything else.
Also I have a cat named Pookie Lips. He has an overbite that makes him look like his lips are pouty or "pookie" as a friend described it.

What is a good class pet hamster name?
It is one idea, with class pets, to consider the mascot or name of the school. In this case, the hamster will have the ultimate school spirit, which will ultimately reflect on the students, whatever their age. And with something to connect it to it will be easy to remember.

I saw a commercial on television for a pet nail trimmer. Its not the PediPaws or the Peticure, but it is something similar. It has a special protective covers for both small and large dog nails. Unlike the Peticure, you put the nail straight down into the filer, instead of through the side.
The filer piece has a concave indention on the top so it files all the way around the nail at once.

Reply:You really disappoint me (not that it may matter to you) a tiger is a wild animal and meant to be exactly that, the only other place you should be able to see one is in a very spacious exhibit at a zoo. I am assuming you are somewhere in the U.S as it is the only country that i am aware of where it is legal to keep big cats as pets. Your best bet is to donate your "pet" to a zoo somewhere because no matter how cute and cuddly they look, if you do one thing wrong when it is an adult it will rip your body apart with no effort at all. If such a thing should happen it could be assumed that the animal would be blamed and not the owner.The animal would be killed. If you really love your tiger give it up to a zoo so that you dont endanger both of your lives.

We have been together for 10 months. We are planning on moving together soon. I just wonder if this is normal?

I cant seem to call my bf by his name or pet names other than ******. I think its because his name is too long. Its just wierd for me. Why dont you like bieng called baby? I love that. be happy.

When I was a young man back in the 1950s we all had pet names for each other, its normal. What should I name my new pet puppy?
He is already quite gutsy and is cross between a labrador and a german shephard so he will grow to be quite big and strong, so I want a good name that will reflect his personality. Thanks!

He is Lab and Mastiff. We love him anyway and now at age three seems to have calmed down. Now if only I could and replace the chairs and tables.
