When did you realize your pet knew their name?

When naming a pet, it can take awhile before they recognize their name (just like a baby). So when did you realize your pet knew his/her name and how did it make you feel?

When did you realize your pet knew their name?
Awsome!! i recently got a shar pei puppy (a rolly dog from the toilet paper add) and she now knows her name. i realized when i said "keisha" and staight away she looked up at me as if to say What? if shes being cheeky, shell just sit their wagging her tail pretending to ignore me!! good luck with ur pet :)
Reply:I first saw my dog at 8 hours old.. the person I got her from named all the puppies after cars.. Cooper inded up being my dogs name.. I brought her home at 8 weeks, and thought about a different name.. but when I called her she didnt respond, she liked and came to Cooper.. So I stuck with that.. So for my dog she pretty much knew her name at 8 weeks..
Reply:my bunnies knew their name 2 months after i got them. i will be in the kitchen and bugs would be in the dining room biting at her cage to come out..and i would say "wait a minute, bugs" and she would stop. soooo cute. rexy loves to go where she is not allowed to so i will say rexxxxy and he will run away. adorable!
Reply:It was awesome! I was so stoked when he started coming to me or looking at me when I called him. I had had him for a few weeks, and calling his name whenever I could.
Reply:Yeah, with my dog Holly, I had gotten her from the pound. I was going to name her Poppy but when we got to the little 'bonding' room, I kept calling her that, and she wouldnt come. On the way home, I decided to give her a Christmas name, since it was Nov. 25, and chose Holly.

But about a month later, I was talking to my mom in the living room, and Holly was chasing our male Sheltie, Sam. She ran into the couch (not hard) and laid there whimpering. Sam gave her a funny look, and my mom, dad, and brother got down and started making a big fuss. I just looked over, and my mom got mad because I wasnt tending to her. I said "Holly's just faking." She looked right at me! With this interesting, bonding, look, and then jumped up and continued to play. It was great.

And, ever since, I have been able to tell exactly when her pain is real and when it's fake. With my other dog, Lexy, too. Sam doesnt fake...Usually when they pretend to hurt their paw, I kiss it...they love that!
