How do you name your pet?

Do you go by looks, attitude or something else? My cat's name is odd.

One day a cat came to our back door and pawed at it day after day. We fianally adopted it and fed it. We didn't really think of her as ours yet, so we called her Cat. When no one responded to our lost posters, we kept her. We wanted a different name than cat, but she already answered to it. What sounds like cat... KITKAT!

I'd like to here your pet names and the stories behind them.

How do you name your pet?
Blazer is a big Doberman so I named him Blazer 4x4, but call him Blazer 90% of the time. When I do call him Blazer 4x4 his tail goes a hundred miles an hour so he must love it. Velvet is named Midnight Velvet since she is black %26amp; her coat is as shinny %26amp; soft as Velvet. Desire was given her name because it was my heart's desire to have a female Doberman. Snoop Doggy Dog was named after the black rapper that transformed into a Doberman in his rapper video. Ginger, a rescued mutt was named Ginger because of the color of her coat!!!!
Reply:We named our dog Reese (As in the peanut butter cups), because she has dark brown, almost black hair except for her belly which is peanut butter brown.
Reply:i think u should name a pet by personality.......

i got a tortishell her colors reminded me of my fav. day....halloween!!!

so i named her boo
Reply:only cat I ever had was blond with dark tail n ears. reminded me of Sir Lancelot's horse. I named him EN BARR. Same as his house, means SPLENDOR-ED MANE. Anyway, PAT the CAT.
Reply:Ive got 4 cats..but im only going to talk about 2. Jasmine is one and she is a white cat and jasmine is a white flower and shes all so sweet and precious!! Then one other the others is Rusty he was a colour of rust, brown. He is strong and quite clever (he lives out at the beach and so he can catch fish in the lagoon) their both really cool and lovely cats!!
Reply:I usually try on a couple of different names, but honestly, usually something completely random with jump out at me and stick.

Take my baby rat for instance. I had a litter of 15 baby rats and my favorite was all black with a white tummy and three white dots on her side. I didn't name her because nothing really came to me. Then, one day, when she was 3 weeks old, I held her up and I said "Let me see those spots, Tri Tip," and thus her name. Everyone thinks it's weird, but it fits her just the same.

My cornsnake was random too. My friend was looking up plains indian tribes on the internet; the color variation of my snake comes form the great plains. And I saw a random tribe, the Kiowa tibe. But I pronounced it Kee-OH-Ah instead of KAI-Oh-Wah. And Kiowa (pronounced my way) stuck. I think sometimes it just happens that way.
Reply:Well How you name your pet is by its personality, things it likes, what it looks like, slang words.

Well I have a cat and I named Him Traitor.

I named him that because, He was a stray when I first got him.

And he would always be at my house. But in the morning and afternoon he would go outside and go into my neighbors yards. And he would get food from them.

and come back home and get more food from us.

So I named His Traitor.

Because hes a Traitor. Goes Around getting food from other people=]

Get it?
Reply:CoCo

i wanted to name by dog brazil (i was 11 i donno why the hell i wanted to name her that) but in spanish it sounds a lot similar to bra.

i donno why either so i named her coconut.

but it got shortned to coco.

i wish i would have named her caramel

or donga or waffles.
Reply:My cat's name is Vincent Van Gogh, but we just call him Vincent most of the time. The animal hospital we adopted him from named him Van Gogh because the top of his left ear is missing. They don't know how it happened but he used to be ferel. When we got him we liked Vincent better. When I went to get his license, I told them to change his name to Vincent, but she left the Van Gogh, so he is registered under Vincent Van Gogh, which is fine with me.
