Why does my boyfriend call me by pet names like sweetie, babe and princess but not by my name?

We have been together for 10 months. We are planning on moving together soon. I just wonder if this is normal?

Why does my boyfriend call me by pet names like sweetie, babe and princess but not by my name?
I cant seem to call my bf by his name or pet names other than ******. I think its because his name is too long. Its just wierd for me. Why dont you like bieng called baby? I love that. be happy.
Reply:I've been with my girlfriend for past 9 years and I have only called her name when introducing her to someone. Other then I call her baboulli, baboullini mou (Greek), Agapi mou (my love in Greek) or even more inventive pet names I can come up with and she does the same except she mixes my real name with some "oulli" or "oullini" or anything which sounds the same.





It is quite alright.
Reply:It just another way of showing his affection, by calling you cute names that he thinks fits his love for you. When I was a young man back in the 1950s we all had pet names for each other, its normal. Try not to take offense at it, because I've heard guys through the years call their girlfriends much worst things that I can't mention. Take it as a compliment.
Reply:It all depends on the guy. Calling you pet names makes him feel more like he's yours. Not possesive, but as in a good way. It's also because some men thinks its a way to flirt, or how to attract a girl's attention. So yes, it's normal. Some guys do it, some don't.

Reply:my boyfriend did that too, so i asked my friend because she was really good with boys, and she said its because they have more girlfriends and he dint what 2 get your names mixed up. then i found out that he had 2 other girlfriends. and when you ask him about it hes going 2 say your #1.
Reply:Well, it seems less formal and cute. Would be less defining of a boyfriend to call you by your real name. But then again, he may just be following what he thinks he should do. It's all a form of pampering you. He does it so that you will become closer to him.

but besides my sad life point. Yes it's normal, boys have many way to show that they love there girl. They may even get jealous of another guy and attack. Or haler out she my property. That happen one at school. @.@...
