My three cats were given their names because of how they came to become a part of my family. Magic mysteriously escaped from a SEALED, but ventilated box on the trip to my house. I found her under the front passenger seat of my car, the box, in my living room, was still taped shut. Diamond was adopted from a shelter, but the red tape it took to get her made her adoption as difficult as if she were a precious jewel I couldn't touch. Gypsy was a palm-sized vagabond hiding under my porch from the terrors of hungry raccoons and crazed neighborhood kids. Weighing less than a pound, she looked like she'd survived the ravages of war. It took two weeks of quiet effort and hand-held food for me to win her trust.
What are the stories behind your pets' names?
Tell me the story behind your pet's name?
My mom named my first dog Whimper, because when we first got her if she wasn't with me she would give puppy yaps or whimper all the time. Then she named my 2 cats at the time Tac and Toe. Toe lived for almost 18.5 years and was the coolest cat! I sure miss him sometimes. Now I have Sunny, some kids I was a nanny for named her. Sky because she is the color of grey sky and Terry short for terrorist, because she was a terror when I first got her. Originally her name was Midnight because that is when I found her on a cold rainy night. My friend came over and named her after she watched the way she attacked the other cats and the dogs too! lol
Reply:Phaedre..(pronounced FayDra) .....means faithful. she is THE most faithful dog ever... I was watching a news cast, and a little girl was being interviewed in Pakistan. Her name was Phaedre, and I wrote it down. I looked it up, and it means faithful.....My hounds are from there.
Reply:My dog was named after her mom. She is Songe the 2. Songe was the only survivor. My parents got her sister out, but didnt survive. Songe the 1 was not my parents dog. she belonged to a spanish family that lived on a farm very near my house. The family let us keep the pup. i wasnt born yet. my dog is 7 years older than me.
Reply:We are HUGE sports fans, so most of our pets were named after sports figures. We have a dog named Koy and a cat named Ty, for the Deitmers (football players). We have 2 other dogs Koufax and Duke (baseball players). 3 other cats Sterling and Shannon (for the Sharpe's-Football) and Donovan (for McNabb-Football). Lastly we have a dog named Beauxceafus, for Hank Williams,Jr. (His NickName.)
Reply:Boxer puppy named Tater Bug. because they are so playful all through their life and thats what we also called our son. we thought it was cute.
Reply:I NAMED MY DOG GYPSY,CUZ I FOUND HER WONDERING AROUND...LIKE A GYPSY. MY OTHER DOG IS ALL BLACK WITH A WHITE PATCH ON HIS CHEST SO I NAMED HIM 8-BALL...LIKE THE 8-BALL IN POOL, AND MY CAT IS NAMED "RUBY-TUESDAY"..AFTER A BEATLES SONG. :)
Reply:My cat's name is Java...
One night when I was in bed, the name Java jumped in my mind... Some people think I named him after coffee!! It fits him appropriately because he is black and because of his personality.
Reply:lol, I like how you named your pets after the circumstances you found them in. I named my dog after this movie I loved as a kid.
Reply:haha well the best one was my dog Puppy. When I first got her I couldn't think of a name so we always called it the puppy, after a few weeks (had a real hard time pickin a name haha) We noticed it responded to puppy, even after I picked another name she wouldn't respond to it so Puppy stuck.
